Could anyone of you be the compatible donor for the little Miabelle?

Yesterday night Jan and me saw a TV programme about a one year young, sweet little girl Miabelle. This little girl is battling with a rare disease known as Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). Her parents are making an appeal to the world to hopefully find the ideal bone marrow donor for their little girl with this terrible disease.

We both are deeply touched seeing this little girl and her parents suffering! This programme was broadcast on the Belgian TV because of the fact that the father of Miabelle, Olivier Gillier is a Belgian, who is now living with his family in the US, Cincinatti.

Jan and me woke up this morning with that little girl on our mind. “The least I can do is to write about this girl on my blog!”, I immediately thought.

This is why I would love to ask, to all of you my readers, to think about registering yourself as a possible donor.

There isn’t found a compatible donor yet and Miabelle needs urgently one to win this fight!

Her mum and dad have set up a blog to keep up with Miabelle’s progress in her fight with HLH.

There is also an official website : http://www.savemiabelle.org , where you can read more about Miabelle and the disease HLH.

Miabelle The lovely Miabelle

To read on the website of Miabelle :

“Miabelle Gillier is the one-year-old daughter of Olivier and Vanessa Gillier. She is a playful, talkative, smiley and happy baby girl who loves to giggle. She has a twin sister Noelie. She loves to dance, wave and blow kisses. She is currently receiving treatment at Cincinatti Children’s Hospital for Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis. She needs a bone marrow transplant to survive. Please help us to find a donor so we can save her life.”

What is FLH/HLH? HLH stands for Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis and is a rare disorder mainly affecting children at an early age. The illness consists of the malfunctioning of the hystiocyte, one of the primary cells to fight infections. Bone marrow produces these cells that then travel throughout the body to fight infections and destroy foreign material.

Miabelle is currently receiving treatment at Cincinatti Children’s Hospital.
